New water garden

October 6th, 2008

Highland Grounds just finished constructing our most recent water garden.  This one can be found in the new Kobe Japanese Steakhouse in Tuscaloosa, AL.  The Midtown Village is the home of this new restaurant.   The restaurant is scheduled to open soon, so if you are in the area stop by and have dinner and and enjoy our water garden.

This pond looks awesome! How do I go about getting you guys to put one at my house? I have a difficult area in my backyard that this might fix the problem.

Fall is just ahead

September 15th, 2008

I know that it is hard to imagine, but Fall is just around the corner.  Actually, it starts next Monday.  It seems like summer just started, though when you look around you will notice that the leaves are already changing to their beautiful fall colors.  This is a wonderful time of the year to get out and enjoy the outdoors.  The temperature is nice and there is usually a breeze out.

After those leaves fall and are all sitting on your lawn they are not so beautiful anymore.  Call Highland Grounds and we will come remove them and get your yard looking like it should.  We can also take a look at those projects that you are wanting to get done in your lawn.  Don’t let your leaves ruin your Fall.

Water Gardens

August 27th, 2008

This is a GREAT time of the year to get the water garden that you’ve always wanted.  The weather is starting to change and is more enjoyable to be outside.  This is a very relaxing atmosphere to add to your outdoor living space.  With little maintenance and the soothing sounds of water you too can look forward to coming home and relaxing outside.

    Good Afternoon,

My name is Dan Caldwell and my wife (Gay Caldwell) and I are incredibly pleased with the water garden that Highland Grounds Services installed in the back yard of our newly renovated home on Shades Crest Road in Vestavia Hills, Al. After a stressful day, just to go out back and listen to the 4 tier water fall, and look at the beautiful landscaping, makes the muscles loosen up in a hurry. They were very professional and take care of business the way it should be taken care of. They are very responsive and service oriented as well. If you are considering a water garden, just do it.

Fall Preparations

August 27th, 2008

It is never too early to start planning ahead.  We at Highland Grounds are already making our schedule for the Fall.  If you are like many people and are tired of the leaf clean up call us for an estimate.  In most cases we can get by your house in a day and get you the estimate back quickly.  You don’t want to wait until the last minute to call and get on the schedule.

With that, if you are thinking of landscape renovations or new installation, fall is a good time to get that done.  It will give the plants a chance to start rooting in over the Winter.  When the Spring get here everything will be done and ready for your enjoyment.

Highland Grounds does design and installation of irrigation systems. Let’s set a time to look at it.

I have a TERRIBLE mole problem! They have made a tossed salad out of my lawn, and destroyed dozens of landscape plants (roses, azaleas, gardenia…). I’ve used mole pellets, an insecticide to kill their food source, castor oil (also said to kill their food source), another natural product that we broadcast over the lawn. I’ve also poured gasoline down the holes, and am so frustrated that now I’m a threat to throw a match down there and blow up the yard! Sounds a bit like Caddyshack, huh? Any suggestions???

It seems that you have done the recommended treatment. If you would like to call me and we could talk about it, please do at 205-426-6688.
